Richard ‘Rich’ Lencz retired from the United States Army in 2019 as a Lieutenant Colonel while serving in United States Forces Korea as the Global Force Manager for the J3 Future Operations Division in Pyeongtaek, ROK.

Prior to serving as USFK J3 GFM, Rich served as the Combined Forces Command C3 Future Operations Ground Planner, USFK Secretary Joint Staff, and Deputy Chief of the Commander’s Initiatives Group. During his time in Korea, he previously served as Chief of Operations for 2nd Infantry Division in Uijeongbu, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team Executive Officer, Operations Officer, 2nd Battalion – 9th Infantry Regiment, and commanded Bravo Company and Headquarters, Headquarters Company in Dongducheon, ROK.

Rich deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan as an Executive Officer for Task Force Bayonet and Leader of a Battalion Embedded Tactical Team.

His military awards and decorations include Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service, and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Rich’s education includes a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University, and a Bachelor’s in Science in History from United States Military Academy.

Rich is married to Mrs Gyoung Sook ‘Kristin’ Lencz and they have two sons. Kristin’s father served as a KATUSA with 1st Cavalry Division Military Police, and her uncle was a member of the South Korean Tiger Brigade in Vietnam.
